“It was getting to be too much for me to do,” said Sarah. “I knew that when I moved from my home that I wanted to be in a community setting, not just in an apartment. I thought that would be kind of isolating for me.”
Leaving her home, which she and her husband had built, wasn’t easy. But Morgan Orchards offered her the same views of the mountains she loved, allowing her to bring a piece of home with her.
At first, she looked at a one-bedroom apartment, but “after seeing the view from the studio apartment I knew I had to take it for myself,” Sarah recalled. “The location of the building being in the open field allows for the apartment to be bright even on a gray cloudy day. And I love the window seat and how cozy my apartment is at night.” She also loved the fact that she was the first one to live in her apartment. It was exciting for her to be the first one to put her mark on the space – such as making the walls the colors of her choice.
Sarah loves the outdoors, having spent many years raising sheep, and has joined the Garden Group. She tends the indoor plants around the common areas of the building and in the summer she grows vegetables and flowers (to be cut fresh for the dining room tables), and even helped to add some birdhouses around the property.
And she’s found the sense of community she’d been hoping for as well. Since moving in she says she’s met the most wonderful people and has made many new friends. “It feels like they’ve been neighbors forever.”
