Need to downsize, but don’t know where to start?
Does the thought of tackling decades of belongings overwhelm you?
Moving is never easy. And downsizing years of belongings is a major hurdle for many who are considering a transition to independent living. But it doesn’t have to be.
At Morgan Orchards, we believe your retirement years should be as stress-free as possible. And helping our residents make the transition to independent living is the first step in achieving a stress-free lifestyle. That’s why we’ve put together a few tools to help you on your downsizing journey.
Move Management Services Supplement
Move management companies can help reduce the pressures families face when downsizing or relocating. And those that are accredited through organizations like the National Association of Senior Move Managers are specially trained to help older adults and their families work through lifestyle transitions, like moving to independent living.
A move management company can help you with tasks such as:
- Organizing, sorting, and downsizing your belongings
- Designing a floor plan to make sure everything fits in your new home
- Arranging for removal of unwanted items (including sales, donations, recycling, and trash)
- Arranging for movers and storage/shipping solutions
- Providing professional packing services
- Assisting in unpacking and setting up your new home
If you or your loved one is ready to make the move to Morgan Orchards but need help deciding what to take and what to leave behind, this type of partnership might be just what you need to make independent living a reality.
– Jon K., son of a Morgan Orchards resident
As an incoming Morgan Orchards independent living resident, we’ll cover up to $500 towards downsizing services. Currently, we’re partnering with Second Act Transitions, which is based in Burlington, Vt., but if you live out-of-state we’ll happily partner with other move management companies.
You’ll work directly with the move management company to determine your downsizing needs and the associated costs. After move in, a credit will be applied to your account with the move management supplement.
If you’d like to learn more about this supplement and what a move manager can do for you, please call our office at (802) 728-7888.
