The Gifford name has long been synonymous with service in central Vermont. For over 115 years, Gifford has provided residents of the greater Randolph, VT, area with accessible, affordable, high-quality health care close to home. Additionally, Gifford leads community conversations and outreach efforts to address a variety of issues, from food insecurity to addiction, that respond to the needs of central Vermonters at all stages of life.
Gifford is short for Gifford Health Care, the parent company of Gifford Medical Center and Gifford Retirement Community. (And, as you may be aware, Gifford Retirement Community owns Morgan Orchards.) Here we’ll share an overview of the services and programs offered by all three entities.
Gifford Health Care
Gifford Health Care has a network of community health centers throughout central Vermont, from Berlin to the north and White River Junction to the south, offering Primary Care. Services range from annual physical exams and screenings to disease prevention education and chronic disease management.
The Primary Care team provides integrated care by coordinating with other Gifford practices, to include:
- Family and Internal Medicine
- Obstetrics/Gynecology and Midwifery Care

Gifford Retirement Community
Gifford Retirement Community includes our 30-acre Morgan Orchards Senior Living Community here in Randolph Center as well as adult day programs in Bethel and Barre. The Morgan Orchards campus, home to our vibrant community at Strode Independent Living, also includes the award-winning Menig Nursing Home across the way. Future expansion plans include the addition of assisted living units.
As part of the greater Gifford community, Morgan Orchards residents have unique access to a variety of free programs and services: We frequently enjoy, and sometimes host, Gifford community dinners and breakfasts (with plenty of Vermont maple syrup!). These shared meals give us the opportunity to get acquainted with our neighbors of all ages and backgrounds. In terms of community health, recent Gifford outreach has included free skin cancer screenings and presentations on palliative care. And looking ahead to the holidays, unique offerings include a support group on “Making It Through the Holidays,” for community members who have experienced loss and grief.
