We strive to ensure our residents are part of a vibrant and active community. To that end, our Activities Specialist works with residents to schedule a wide variety of activities with the goal of making every day different.
We encourage residents to participate in as many activities as they’d like. Schedules are posted daily and include events such as morning coffee hour, fun and games, holiday celebrations and national observances, as well as small and large group activities.
Activities
Activities are a mix of internally managed programs and outside guests (such as musicians and pet visits). Some of our many activities include:
- Exercise-based activities, such as stretching and toning
- Reading and writing groups
- Games (such as bingo, trivia, word puzzles, and more)
- Music (sing-a-longs and performances by outside guests)
- Arts and crafts projects
- Movies
- Baking workshops
- Educational programs
- Group discussions
- Spiritual programs (both internally run prayer groups and weekly services presented by area churches)
We encourage family and friends to join us for events.
Our two living rooms are supplied with puzzles, games, and a large selection of movies, audiobooks, and large-print books and are available for all residents to enjoy.
If you or your group would like to make a special presentation to our residents we encourage you to contact our Activities Specialist at 728-7809.
Resident Council
Resident Council meetings are an opportunity for our community to come together as one. We discuss and explain resident rights, how to file a complaint or a grievance, discuss events from the past month, and share what’s to come. We also review each department and offer opportunities for residents to express any concerns, questions, suggestions, complaints, or compliments they might have.
Volunteering
We love our volunteers and are always looking for new friends. If you have a talent you’d like to share with our residents, or you’d simple like to spend time with some wonderful people, we encourage you to consider volunteering.
Our volunteers offer a number of services from performing music and line dancing, to moderating reading groups or doing one-on-one reading sessions. There are also those who simply come to socialize with a resident or bring their certified therapy pets for visits. We’re open to new people, and new ideas.
If you’re interested in volunteering, please contact the Gifford Volunteer Coordinator at 728-2324.
